Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming

You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill.

You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close you could taste them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears.

Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is its hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely cause almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

Fairy tales and Dreams

At the end of the day faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don't really expect it. Its like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And its not so important happy ever after, just that its happy right now. See once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you , and once in a while people may even take your breath away.

Denial, it's not just a river in Egypt, it's a fricken' ocean

A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. Never leave that till tomorrow, he said, which you can do today. This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say.

I don't know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I'd have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you're wrong? What if you're making a mistake you can't undo?

The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can't pretend we hadn't been told. We've all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to seize the day. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today's possibility under tomorrow's rug until we can't anymore.

Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beat the hell out of never trying.

Just For Ed

Unix operating systems are widely used in both servers and workstations. The Unix environment and the client-server program model were essential elements in the development of the Internet and the reshaping of computing as centered in networks rather than in individual computers.

Both Unix and the C programming language were developed by AT&T and distributed to government and academic institutions, causing both to be ported to a wider variety of machine families than any other operating system. As a result, Unix became synonymous with "open systems".

Unix was designed to be portable, multi-tasking and multi-user in a time-sharing configuration. Unix systems are characterized by various concepts: the use of plain text for storing data; a hierarchical file system; treating devices and certain types of inter-process communication (IPC) as files; and the use of a large number of small programs that can be strung together through a command line interpreter using pipes, as opposed to using a single monolithic program that includes all of the same functionality. These concepts are known as the Unix philosophy.

Under Unix, the "operating system" consists of many of these utilities along with the master control program, the kernel. The kernel provides services to start and stop programs, handle the file system and other common "low level" tasks that most programs share, and, perhaps most importantly, schedules access to hardware to avoid conflicts if two programs try to access the same resource or device simultaneously. To mediate such access, the kernel was given special rights on the system, leading to the division between user-space and kernel-space.

The microkernel tried to reverse the growing size of kernels and return to a system in which most tasks were completed by smaller utilities. In an era when a "normal" computer consisted of a hard disk for storage and a data terminal for input and output (I/O), the Unix file model worked quite well as most I/O was "linear". However, modern systems include networking and other new devices. Describing a graphical user interface driven by mouse control in an "event driven" fashion didn't work well under the old model. Work on systems supporting these new devices in the 1980s led to facilities for non-blocking I/O, forms of inter-process communications other than just pipes, as well as moving functionality such as network protocols out of the kernel.

Lucy F and Mr A C

What can be said about these 2 people, well lets start with Mr Andy Cross.

Mr A C:

This manager is becoming the bane of my life, not only is against anything that i put on my desk, including my name badge! This man is anti everything! Anti Customer support week, anti count down to christmas, anti FACEBOOK! There is nothing in the world this guy likes, unless its to do with his house or his music.

He is the reason, we have so much extra work to do, heres a good idea, get rid of the 3rd memeber of the support team, because you have a dislike for her and then pile 5 times the amount of work.

When Debbie is in her never ending meetings, it is just me, they say there is no I in team, but let me tell you the team can sometimes just me! I am the support team!

God dam men!

Lucy F:

This lady needs to put her computer back in the box and take it back to the shop, however this may prove a lil too difficult for her, maybe just put it in the dustbin and let the Biffa men take it away, give it a better home! This woman has taken up way too much of our time for such s simple thing, as uploading her website. When she asked how to load a piece of software on to her computer, also had to stop Debbie from killing herself!

Bloody Woman!

Birmingham NEC Dive Show

Sunday! horrible early start! :( Been up to Birmingham today, for the Dive Show at the NEC. How much did my feet hurt after all that walking around!?

Was really interesting, debating whether or not to get a shorty for holiday in March, might be a goos idea, keep me from getting too sunburnt when in the sea.

Came home and had a lil nap this afternoon! was very refreshing, do enjoy a good nap! :-)

Philip moves house this week, went to to see his new house yesterday, its HUGE, i think it could be haunted, it is a very old building, it did use to be a pub.

Should be fun, if we have a few parties :)

Just means i wont see him unless its the weekend :(

Do love Philip

Ignore the comments of Robert Greville, who could not sit and watch this awesome film, he just has no taste, and is married to his x Box and Halo 3! which when it came out he took 3 days off to play the game.....Now his has used all his holiday for this year! Shame...!

What can i say about today so far... well almost crashed my car this morning on the way to work, the road was covered on mud and it was wet, if anything had been coming the other way, then i would have gone into them. The car behind me almost went the same way as well.

Was a very scary moment, my right shoulder blade is now hurting because of this, due to the fact had to hold on quite tightly.

I am very pissed off, now that our team is down to 2 people and Debbie is on holiday, there is just far to much work for one person to do on there own, every time im on the phone i can see another call coming in, then when i get to the call the 'lovely' customer on the end of the phone likes to have a moan at me before, they start their rant about what they actually want!

If it's not customers having a moan then its members of staff, who actually think they are better then you, and then think its ok to get in the car for a lift at lunch time. If it had not been for Wayne being there making jokes about something else, i swear i would tell the nosy Bitch where to go!

Does she not get, that if we ain't talking to her, then she shouldn't be butting into other peoples conversations, if she was included then we would speak to her. Sort it out love. Keep your smelly nose out of other peoples business!

hopefully tonight will be better, going over Philip's, he has invited me around for tea after work, yay :)

The trouble with Thursdays...

To be honest, just getting out of bed today was a struggle!
However thinking the today would be ok, it has taken to since 9am till now 3pm to empty the mail box for the 1st time!

Have just installed piggin, works alot like messenger, looks quite kool as well :)

Exciting news 74 days till christmas and yes the support team do care, even if certain member of the professional services team, is acting, just a tad unprofessional.

I am wondering what i will be doing tonight, it is Scott's birthday, not actually had any info from him...Or will i go to the GYM? There are no excuses now, toe does not hurt anymore...Or will Philip contact me, to see how im doing.... i wonder.....

Right im off to send some renewal reminders, and hopefully gain some commission :)

Wednesday

Right well, it's wednesday, im sat with my feet up at my desk, debating what i should do next...

1) Send renewal reminders
2) print off the safenames invoices
3) enquire as to where my next of tea is coming from... Wayne or grev....
4) reply to Philip's emails.

Do i want to go to the pub tonight? Not really, seeing as i was up at 4am this morning... Sleep does seem like the best option, plus not seen my parents for over week.

Sometimes i do wonder why i do stuff, as people clearly forget that i have done things for them and when it comes to me wanting a favour inreturn, i get nothing.

Just got back from sainsburys, very exciting lunch break, got some cream cakes for Debbie and me :) None for the boyz!

Yummy :)

Tuesday, 9 October 2007

Well it's about 10.20pm and i am sat waiting for my parents to get back from their holiday, i am very tired, i really want to go to bed, but there just seems to be so much to do online tonight.

I have been on facebook a lot! Raced my Fluff pet, spoke to Sam and Scott.

Decided to create my own Blog, bit like a diary i suppose.

I'm really quite sad that Philip has gone home, he was really annoying me, but i miss him now. Will feel strange not having him taking up all the covers :(

Must get some sleep parents will be home in 6 hours! Presents for me! :-D
